Anderson鶹ýs reappointment reflects continued momentum in national rankings, innovative programming, and student-centered leadership

鶹ý has announced the reappointment of Horace E. Anderson Jr. as dean of the Elisabeth Haub School of Law with his next term commencing in January 2026. Dean Anderson, who was first named to the role in December 2019 after serving as interim dean, has been selected to lead the law school for another term. His continued leadership reflects the University鶹ýs commitment to academic excellence, innovation in legal education, and expanding access to justice.

Under Dean Anderson鶹ýs leadership, Haub Law has earned and maintained its for five consecutive years. The school is also nationally ranked in several other key areas, including Trial Advocacy (#19), Dispute Resolution (#18), as well as International Law, Health Law, Tax Law, and its Part-Time Program. These distinctions underscore Haub Law鶹ýs academic excellence and its commitment to preparing practice-ready legal professionals across a range of disciplines.

During his tenure, Dean Anderson has launched new academic and community initiatives while growing Haub Law鶹ýs global presence. He oversaw the creation of the Sustainable Business Law Hub鶹ýan incubator, research center, and think tank focused on ESG and environmental governance鶹ýas well as the expansion of the Advanced Certificate in Health Law and Policy. He led a major redesign of the part-time Flex J.D. program to serve working professionals and helped boost scholarships, donations, and international partnerships. Dean Anderson also launched the Pace Access to Justice Project, which includes the Access to Justice Lab and Legal Hand Call-in Center, developing student-led innovations that address real-world legal access gaps. A dedicated mentor and advocate for diversity in the profession, Anderson supports numerous student affinity groups and has created pipeline programs that promote equity and civic engagement.

Dean Anderson has served on regional justice reform committees and currently sits on the boards of several community organizations, including the Center for Community Alternatives, the Westchester County Association, and Our Lady of Czestochowa School. He has been recognized widely for his leadership and service, receiving the 2023 Changemaker Award from Nonprofit Westchester, the , and an honor from the Westchester County Board of Legislators in 2025. He was also featured in 鶹ý and named to City & State New York's 2024 鶹ýTrailblazers in Education鶹ý list. A member of the Haub Law faculty since 2004, Anderson previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and practiced law at White & Case LLP. He holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

This fall, 鶹ý Art Gallery will present Equilibrium, a solo exhibition by interdisciplinary artist . Featuring living sculpture, photography, and performance, the exhibition explores themes of ecological transformation, resource equity, and climate adaptation. The exhibition opens with a free public reception on Friday, September 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On September 5, 2025, the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 鶹ý hosted the twelfth annual Future Environmental Law Professors Workshop. The workshop is designed for law students and graduates considering or planning careers as legal academics in environmental law broadly defined. The workshop included an informational panel, mock interviews, and practice job talks. In addition, this year Professor Rachel Rothschild, recipient of the 2025 Haub Environmental Law Distinguished Junior Scholar Award, delivered the keynote lunch address.
